Catherine Cossey ALCM CertPPTC MA
Catherine is a passionate educator with over 15 years of experience as a piano teacher and pre-school music teacher. In 2010 she graduated from EPTA’s Certificate of Practical Piano Teaching with distinction, and in 2016 she was awarded a Masters with Distinction in Instrumental Teaching from the University of Reading. Catherine is passionate about piano teaching and believes that when teachers work in community they can achieve so much more than when they work in isolation. This belief led to her founding The Piano School (formerly Catherine Cossey Piano Tuition) in 2012. Through The Piano School Catherine is involved in developing innovative curriculum and resources that enhance students’ experience of music.
Catherine loves working with students of all ages and abilities and seeing them develop into their full musical potential. Alongside teaching piano she teaches the Musical Discoveries classes for 4-5 year olds which put her years of pre-school music teaching to good use! As well as mentoring her team at The Piano School, Catherine is involved in training and developing instrumental teachers at Higher Education level. She lives in Coventry with her husband Matt, also a pianist and piano teacher, and their two sons. She is a member of EPTA (UK) and The Curious Piano Teachers.
